Le Souffle de la Montagne Noire

2019 - 2024

In the mysterious lands of Italy, imagination blends with reality, where human ambition collides with nature’s relentless forces. The Black Mountain breathes awe, but the looming threat intensifies, building toward the inevitable eruption—a violent outpouring of nature’s power that disrupts everything in its path. Molten lava shakes the earth, toxic mists engulf the landscape, and floods emerge unpredictably. These forces, sometimes merciful, often terrifying, defy human understanding, rendering resistance futile.

The eruption becomes a striking symbol of the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world—a stark reminder of the forces we cannot control or predict. Exploring the Black Mountain unveils the complexity of our connection to nature in the Anthropocene. Here, myths, religion, and science intertwine, ancient beliefs clash with rationality. This volatile terrain reflects our precarious place in a world that we can neither control nor fully comprehend.

If we are to judge nature as sublime dynamically, we must present it as arousing fear. For when we judge something aesthetically (without a concept), the only way we can judge a superiority over obstacles is by the magnitude of the resistance.
